The Foundation for Healthy Living Starts with Architectural Design Group

Healthy Materials = Toxin-Free

Common building materials like sheetrock, plywood, paint, and glue often contain harmful chemicals. But at ADG, we’re redefining building and living. Our customized services focus on creating modern, visually appealing spaces—from light colors and window glass design to lighting fixtures and focal points—ensuring your home is both stylish and healthy.

High Standards for Elevated Health

High Standards for Elevated Health: ADG sets the bar with the highest standards in design and construction, following The International Living Future Institute’s Living Building Challenge. This gold standard in building and community health emphasizes toxin-free materials, net-zero energy, and early community engagement. Whether designing modern or contemporary homes, ADG ensures that every aspect, from construction to interior design, meets these rigorous criteria.

Buildings don’t have to be burdens with the Living Building Challenge

What we do

  • Tap Room, Superior, WI

A retrofit of an existing brick building in Superior, WI, we specified low-and-zero VOC paints and sealants for both new and existing elements. Over 75% of the building was saved and much of the new wood was reclaimed from local sources, keeping the environmental impact low and giving customers a clean, healthy space. This project was completed in partnership with Brick and Mortar Design (Duluth, MN).

  • Minnesota ADU

While unbuilt, this project symbolizes the aspirations of ADG. A small, zero-energy building made from local materials and designed in intimate collaboration with the owner. Sadly, the municipality would not agree to a variance for an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). ADU’s are a simple and effective way to begin to solve the housing shortage and allow families to stay together longer.
